February 20 – a day forever etched in Ukraine’s history. A day when we honor the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred – those who gave their lives for freedom, for the right to live in an independent country, for the future of each of us.
These brave people took to Maidan not for glory or awards, but for dignity, truth, and justice. Among them were people of different professions and ages, yet they were united by one goal – a free and strong Ukraine. Among the first to rise against injustice were students, including those from Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University. It was the youth who first sensed the threat to their future and stood up to defend their rights. They were not afraid to fight for the truth.
One of these courageous students was Roman Huryk, a philosophy student who did not stand aside at a decisive moment for the country. He fought for the ideals of freedom, equality, and justice, dreaming of a better future for Ukraine. Roman was killed by a sniper’s bullet on Instytutska Street, becoming one of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. His heroic deed will forever remain in history as a symbol of the sacrifice and resilience of Ukrainian youth.
Even today, many students from this and other educational institutions, as well as civilians, continue to defend Ukraine – no longer just with books in hand, but with weapons, on the front lines. The struggle that began then continues today.
The Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred were the first in modern Ukrainian history to give their lives for freedom. Their sacrifice was not in vain – it became a symbol of the unbreakable Ukrainian spirit.
And now, as Ukraine once again fights for its existence, we must remember: our strength lies in unity. The enemy seeks to divide us, to spread lies, but we must stand firm. In moments like these, we must remain together – united in our determination to protect our country, our values, and, most importantly, respect for one another. Only together can we overcome all the challenges before us.
It is crucial to support those on the front lines, those helping in the rear, and those who contribute daily to our victory. We are strong when we are united. We are invincible when we support one another. Our country is our shared responsibility.
Let us remember those who gave their lives for our freedom and do everything to ensure that their sacrifice was not in vain.
Glory to the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred! Glory to all who fight for Ukraine! Glory to Ukraine!
